UPDATE …

My wife downloaded some demo software for her work to our home computer.
It didn’t work very well, so she un-installed it.
It wiped out most everything useful on our comp.
Explorer and some drivers were damaged or gone.
Find file didn’t work.
Even System Restore was totally wiped out!!!
I worked on it for hours but couldn’t get it fixed.
Finally on Sunday I had to re-install Windows.
That worked and I still have all our files, etc. J
That worked but our comp was bought in 2000 so now the software was way out of date!

I had to re-update for a few hours – yuck!
One thing that wouldn’t update was Internet Explorer.
I tried to update to the highest I could go which is vers. 6.xx Service pack 1. (I have WinME)
That is what it was before everything was wiped out.
Download was successful but it wouldn’t install for some reason.
IE 5.xx seems to work OK though so not a biggy!

Ahh, yeah I hate when that happens. I have had problems with Windows ME, so my dad replaced it with XP, soon after problems started occuring, not to mention, I don't think that Microsoft supports ME anymore I believe

This is the first time I have had any trouble since 2000 with this comp.
And it was from a demo software my wife downloaded - ruined the OS.
Oh yeah, she's back up and running better than ever!
I was actually planning on backing up my files and doing a total Clean Install one of these days but oh well, I was just forced to do this a bit sooner is all.
As long as it is running so good now, I may leave it until I get a new comp hopefully this coming winter.
At that point I'll turn her into a server is my plan! Wink

She handles UT99 like a dream! Cool
