Have any of you converted your automobile's lights to LEDs?
I am slowly changing the stock incandescent bulbs in my automobile's lights to LEDs.
Like Hermskii, I drive a 2010 Corolla.
I kept my main low beam headlights incandescent bulbs for now, however I did change them to Sylvania Ultras now.
The Ultras are really nice - maybe even as good or better than HID Xenons! :cheesy:

I had HID xenon lights and LED lights in my Opel Corsa (2008, eco) and used them for about 4 years before switching them back to the default lights. They are great for the driver and provide a good field of view at night. The drawback is that European rules demand a specific light pattern for the annual car checkup to which these lights did not conform at the time. Solution: replace lights for the check, get the paperwork done, switch back to LED lights.

One reason why I switched back is that when these lights die/break, they are expensive to replace (40eu for the set, versus 7.50eu for the regular bulb) and they are a disaster to place/focus. When they are slightly directed in the wrong direction, they are extremely bright for other users, resulting in getting signaled/flashed every 5 minutes.

Another reason why I switched back is that in general these lights are very bright for other users. Especially in the twilight/evening light these lights are just so bright that you can't observe anything else in the direct environment, which is potentially dangerous for you as well.

The last reason is ambiguous: in the area where I live, youngsters who just got their driver license, drive like pricks and have no sense of danger or road etiquette "tune" their car with the loud exhaust pipes and the same kinds of LED lights / HID Xenons. So with these lights, the first association is with those pricks. Police would pull you over for random alcohol tests and exhaust noise tests to see if you pass all legal standards.

Final verdict: great lights for the driver, but unpleasant for other road users. Also, risk of bad associations.

Oh yes, I quite agree with you Dark! :applause:
I am thinking that I will only switch to LEDs where they do not involve the headlights.

The headlight bulbs I put in, incandescent "Sylvania Ultras" are great!
Like I said above, the Sylvania Ultras are really nice - maybe even as good or better than HID Xenons! :cheesy:
Also, they are Not so glaring.
They have a unique whiteness, with just a touch of light blue, that stands out from the gold standard lights and the blue-white HIDs that is really cool!
They seem to be even "whiter" than the LED and HID Xenons.
I love them! :salute:
