* Member private web pages hosted here! YAY Laughing

* Game Server Showcasing! - (great game servers like CG, MHM, MRS and others etc.)

* Scheduled UT Game "MEETS" online on those showcased Game servers! Yee haw! Wink

(Planned meets at these showcased servers that we date on our calendar - YES we have a calendar here!) Razz

* A current Great UT Server list that will be updated at least weekly, or as often as needed! - (Kept Current) Surprised

(this MAY be on a seperate additional webpage such as like the member pages to come)

* Map Download Page(s) - (Maybe one page or several??? - still planning)

This is how I see the Member Pages implimented here at HUTP! Very Happy

I have UpLoaded an Example of an Additional private Member webpage. (just a wild example but could be quite different)
Go to: Hook's Board Navigation in upper-left on main portal page!
Or click on

I plan on adding a "box" to the main portal page listing all the Member's Site Pages! Wink

If Graphic Images are used in the Member's webpage, the Image’s file Must be available on the web.
The image file can be hosted on places like Photo Bucket, but they are somewhat un-reliable in my opinion – (red X’s LOL)!

SO – to alleviate this little problem, we can also host the image files for the Member web pages on our own forums at HUTP.
This works very well to keep images local with the web pages that are also local.

So – to accommodate Member’s web pages hosted at HUTP, I think the best way is to grant a Forum to go WITH the Members private webpage!

They can upload images they wish to use in their webpage into their own forum. (or files like Map files for Downloading on their page?)

We could also Extend this forum “thing” a bit more by granting other members to also have access to a member’s forum if granted by the owner member.
This way a member could have a website/page hosted at HUTP and Also his own forums!

One thing that can be a slight problem also is that it is BEST if the member knows HTML a bit so they can maintain their page/site.

And, webpage files will have to be submitted to an admin because only an admin (me) can upload the pages to HUTP in the admin control panel.

We could help members who wish to have a page of their own and set it up for them OR teach them to use a webpage editor like “Nvu”!

Nvu is pretty easy to use – Works Great – and Best of all is totally FREE! (Download on the web for FREE - http://www.nvu.com/ )

So a member would get (if they want and apply for it) …

1) A Hosted UT webpage/site* on HUTP *(by “site” I mean -> you can have more than one page linked from the main page – only one main page though)

2) A forum of their own that other members who get permission may join!

3) Some Storage (amount of space to be determined) for files and image hosting in their own forum at HUTP!

4) URLs for their Main Page and their Forum – so they could very well go to a masking site like “co.nr” and get a short url for their page and access it directly!
(that is what I do for HUTP’s main site pages –> www.hooksutplace.co.nr )

Members here at HUTP can virtually have a website of their own with a forum that can be directly accessed from out on the web - (without even logging in to HUTP I believe?)

Does this sound like a good idea though or what? Wink

Actually not too much "work" at all.
It should be kind of FUN for most members, I would think!
We will be uploading another Example using "Hermskii" as a test subject!

with nvu, I made a page with some html background coding in it, but when I hit preview, only the logo from the website I got it from pops up Confused

. But I know thier backgrounds work. Do you have to enter where it says with =someexample.phpsds in the script?

You are loading in a background image, correct?
Just "browse" for the background image you use - and it must be a saved image on your comp.
When you save your page - save it to a new folder and all the images you used in your page will be auto-saved in that folder with your page.
Then when you get your forum here, upload all of those images separately to a thread in your forum.
Then get the URLs for each of the uploaded images and put them in the appropriate place in your source code for each image!
Then upload your page and I will install it.

I will let you know when this will be in place and then we can do the above!
I have a few things to test out first before we can do the member pages! Wink
