{Sir}Iron Chef

Yup, me ships sinking ( aka my computer's video card, 9800 ati is crapping out on me yarr Crying or Very sad

so no gaming for now, however I can still get online and look at web pages but the GPU seems fried and i cant play ut99 or 2k4 till I get a new card OR! rebuild it around a new board and PCI card Cool

. So I'm still around , just not able to
frag for now, hopefully I'll be able to rebuild sometime in april or may .... Confused

Yep, that card was the bomb back then! I had a Voodoo 3000 AGP 16mb then. The TNT2 Ultra was the beginning of the end for Voodoo. I still have 3 Voodoo cards and two are actually still in computers to this day and are functioning fine. I also still have 2 TNT2 video cards with 32mb. Both of them are also in computers.

UT was made for Voodoo specifically back then. Then it switched to Nvidia with UT2003. It declares it each time the game starts. "Nvidia, the way it is meant to be played" or something like that. ATI cards have way too many drivers. Nvidia drivers have only one and it always works. ATI is like 5 on top of each other. I have a perfectly good ATI Saphire 800XL GTO sitting in my garage doing nothing in it's original box. I hate ATI. Can you tell?

Ya - all the voodoo's, 1 ati and Nvidia TNT & TNT2 are all mentioned on my UT box I still have!
I can't remember which guy I chatted with years ago who worked on UT - he used the Nvidia RIVA TNT2 Pro 32mb card same as I had to work on the game! Very Happy

He loved it and said UT played best on that card! - Right from the horse's mouth! Laughing

Ohh yea! don't worry, I'll be going Nvidia for sure, might go with the http://www.techspot.com/news/28575-nvidia-geforce-9600-gt-gets-benchmarked-early.html which seems like a nice card for the
bucks Smile

There is a link on THIS site (HUTP) about good cards for UT3.
Probably in the UT3 forums here. Wink

I know the article was pushing the RAM of the card more than anything if I remember correctly.
I think it said at Least 512mb memory on the card was needed?!?! Confused
