Hook's UT Place - {CMM} 68.232.184.58:7777

I added a map called DM-Cityintro.unr and it won't show up in MapVoteLA13.
I just can't figure out why!
Any other map I add shows up but NOT that one for some reason!
Any ideas?

What does your MapVoteHistory1.ini say after it's tried?

Did you add it to your FTP server?

hold on , city intro is the map that loads when you first turn on unreal, i dont think it is an actual playable map.
if that doesnt work, try copy pasting the name of the mapfile into the section of your mapvote ini where it loads the map.
if it sill doesnt work, then something is wrong with the map itself im guessing, not the mapvote itself.

DM-Cityintro is an actual map that works and there are many versions of it.
The version/map I use goes my the name of DM-Tourney_DeathMatch_City.
Basically the same map...kind of.

Someone basically just ripped most of origional cityintro, made some botpaths, and called it thier own. But that doesn't mean it's not good of course .

Well, you cannot try the map because it doesn't show up in MapVoteLA13.
The history shows other maps but not that one of course.

I may pick the map to start with and restart the server and see what happens.

Not sure it would matter, maybe a mismatch, but have you tried removing the map from your UT folder?

Well, I already do not use that cityintro.unr beginning movie.
I may try to start the server using DM-Cityintro.unr and see if that works.
Or, try a reload of the maps.

I restarted the server using DM-Cityintro, but of course it still doesn't show up in mapvote but it does run OK.
Can't figure it out.
I thought that MAYBE the map was corrupt or something but no.

Send me the map and I'll see if it will work on my server.

First I checked to see if the map worked and it did.
Then I added DM-Cityintro to my server and redirects.
But...I couldn't see it....

Plan B:
Look for a different DM-Cityintro type map.

Yeah, I think I know what the problem is, but not sure.
I noticed that the name UT sees is "DOM-City"
There just may be some sort of conflict with the naming.
I may have to go in and fix it and call it another name - or like you just said.

Well, after checking it out myself, I solved the mystery!
When you mentioned Hook , I saw that also when it came up. The mapvote isn't stupid & saw the same thing as UT saw it, so I renamed the file as such! Now it shows up on the mapvote as DOM-City, thus whoever renamed it to DM-CityIntro just changed the file name!!

That is what I suspected!
I'll go into UnrealEd and change it in its properties AND the name!
I'll let you know how it works.

Well, it isn't as bad as all that.
It is more compared to DM-Deck16.
The most modified stock map there is maybe or is it CTF-Face?
Either one I would guess!
Someone just didn't convert the map all the way is all!
I just got done "Fixing" it so hopefully it'll work good now.
The guy who did the original conversion to DM didn't do anywhere near what should have been done!!!
It looked like someone that barely knew how to use UnrealEd.

Still could NOT get DM-CityIntro to show up in DM!!!
There must be one little setting somewhere that prevents it from showing up in MapVote!

What properties did you change? When I just changed the name only, it showed the 3 places where I had to keep in control of as in any DOM map (even though when it was named as a DM map, it didn't show them, yet played fine as a DM map still). Btw, it's the same map used in MH-City & City(v3).

Btw, IMO, I think Face is one of the most modified maps around (I got 7 versions in CTF & 1 in MH).

Yeah, I can play DM-CityIntro but it just doesn't show up in the DM list on MapVoteLA13.
It shows in UT though.
Oh, did you see how many DECK maps Hermskii has on CG?
I couldn't believe it!

Oh sure, repeat stuff I already knew from before! (minus the DECK maps Herm has, any small variation to a map will always be a different version)

All really I wanted to know was what properties you tried to changed to make the mapvote see it as a DM map.

I deleted the Control Points... (It was a DOM map that I had - DOM-cityintro.unr)
Then Changed the Default Gametype in the map properties from DOM to none.
Most maps have "none" but this map had "DOM" in the default game types.
There must be some OTHER setting somewhere that keeps it from showing in the DM column inMapVoteLA13.
I may have to take another look at it - with a finer toothed comb.

Another one is DM--{ISC}--OrientalPassage.unr
Won't show up in MapVoteLA13 - at least on MY server.

Well, with all my trial and error, I am learning quite a bit about MapVoteLA13
Maybe I'll write up a tutorial on MapVote - as the readme that comes with it is lousy!

Thump! So, any luck yet? Have you been able to find it this time with your good eye instead of your patched eye? I'm pretty sure it's something in the map's properties & not the mapvote itself.

I believe the same thing!
I have put on our server (CMM) another of the converted "CityIntro" maps!
It shows up in MapVoteLA13.
It also has a different name.
I MAY try changing the name next as i am curious to see if that may have something to do with it.
Most of the "CityIntro" conversions have a totally different name.

Since I have a replacement for CityIntro, it isn't real urgent that I find this solution...BUT...
I will keep looking at it to unlock the secret if I can.
