I used to play a lot of Invasion for 2K4. I really liked the game style but I missed the "feel" of good old UT even more.
I finally gave up invasion and came back to UT where surprisingly there was no invasion, only monster hunt.
I threw myself into development for MH but it always nagged at me that I REALLY wanted to play UT's version of invasion.

One night I came across an obscure mod file by *BaseCodeAuthor1* that laid the groundwork for invasion done UT style.
I opened the code to get it to work and liked very much what I saw.
It was rough and simple but it was one hell of a start.
I knew this was going to be my calling: Make this into the premier monster killing gametype in UT!

Now I am realistic. I knew I couldn't do it alone.
There are some things that completely baffle me still, so I contacted *Author3*, a good friend and excellent coder to see if he was interested.
He was as passionate about it as I was so off we went....

Survival is all about one thing: Making it to the end with the best score.
Like Invasion, you have waves of increasingly stronger monsters but in Survival it's all about you and not the team.
Subtle gameplay tweaks encourage players to look out for themselves first and "team" a distant second.
You'll find many strange and some new monsters inside, but rest assured they all desire one thing: to kill you.

So strap on your enforcer, grab some extra flak shells, warm up that minigun spinner and dance with the roughest assortment of creatures this side of the galaxy!
The road to victory is long but you are ready for the challenges.
Enter the crucible and see if you truly understand what it takes for...

I've been in on the development with one of them AuthorX Cats and it looks like a tough mod.

I thought you wanted to keep it a secret! 8)
It lasts 16 waves!
You get a minimum of lives and the monsters just bombard the living 5H1T outta ya.
It's a lot like Monster arena but with newer arena style maps and more & smarter monsters.
They are working on extra bonuses for surviving the wave and extra life relics.
There are Eants (longlegged, lumbering oafs), Cyborgs and the usual assortment of MH baddies.
At least there is plenty of ammo, health and armor around.
It's a real pain with only 1 or 2 players, so the more the merrier.
My take on it is that the scenery never changes and all you do is kill and avoid being killed.
I prefer actual "hunting", sniping and regular old death match but this is definitely worth checking out if you like a good white knuckle, mouse crusher!

Yeah, I guess I'll have to try it myself.
Also, as a Mapper, I have studied the mapping for SV and it seems to me that you will be able to somewhat control how a map "flows" so you may be able to do some more hunting and sniping!?!? - Etc.? :P
I'll have to try out my theory when I get the mod next week.
Maybe make some SV maps that are Less "Arena-like" and more elongated as a MH map may be. :wink:
