You MUST Register Before You Can Submit Any Posts or Replies or Participate in this Site and forums!
It Is FREE and EASY to Register!
Read the How to Register part of this forum First - THEN ...
Go to the top of the page (or elsewhere on this site such as Site Navigation box) and click on register NOW!
HELPFUL TIPS - OK, Now ...
When you see a topic that you would like to Read or make a Comment on, just click once on the title. That will open up that particular "THREAD", as it is called. After reading the THREAD TOPIC, you can make a response to it, by clicking on "REPLY" to that post.
PS: You can also click on "POST New Topic" to Start a New Thread!
There are certain "Word Processing" functions available for you, and most of these functions are not necessary for you to just make regular commentary, but they are there for you to use.
To use these functions, First HighLight the copy you want to change - then click on the function such as Bold "B" to apply the function.
The Copy that was selected will have brackets with code in them on Either side of the copy.
Click on "Preview" to see what it looks like.
Or you can also click on "Submit" to actually Post your post. (you can always go back and edit your posts or replys so no worries!)
I find the BOLD, which is the bolded capital letter B, provides an easy method of bringing attention to a particular comment or phrase. Also, the underline function and to a lesser degree, the italicise function.
You can play around with all of the functions available to see how your final script comes out, and before you "SUBMIT" your post, you can click on the "PREVIEW" button and see how it looks. If you are not satisfied, just make the changes you deem necessary.
Don't worry, typing skills, grammar and punctuation are passe' on the internet. Just look at any youngsters messages and you will see what I mean. HUH??? What are they saying?
You can change the "font type" if you want a different stlye of lettering to be used.
You can change the "font size" from the default size to accent a comment. Please, too large comes off as shouting and too small is hard on some peoples vision.
You can change the "font color" too. Sometimes, that dilutes the lettering from the ease of visibility from the page though.
Okay, now you are satisfied with you "POST" that you just made and you clicked "SUBMIT". Now what? Be patient, unless someone else is on this site at the exact same time they will not even know about it until they log back in and check on new posts. Speaking of that, you can set up each time you make a thread or a post, to be notified right to your own e-mail account, that someone else has made a new response in that thread.
Until everyone is aware of this site and has a desire to use it, it may be a slightly lonesome forum at the beginning.
Just wait until the kids start using it though. LOL
Oh yeah! If you wish to put forth some additional emotion to your postings, that the normal typed word can not properly convey, you can click on one of the little smiley guys on the left hand side. Where ever your straight vertical blinking cursor bar is at the time, is where that BB code will be implanted. When you either preview or actually post your message, it will show up correctly as the emoticon that you chose.
Some Examples:
That is enough for a brief "Forum 101" Tutorial. Others can add some of their favorite "HOW TO DO THIS OR THAT" in Other posts and forums, if they like.
Thank You for Registering, Showing Up and Getting Involved.
New information to use.
You do not have to click on every single forum to see if there are any NEW posts in them. If you want to be notified automatically, to your e-mail address, when someone else posts a reply in a thread you are following, you can select from the check box under your new post you are making, " Notify Me of any New Posts " Or, another way to check out updated activity on the entire forum, or even just the forum subv-sections you have post in, you can click on one of the following links to show you any updates since you were last on this forum board.
View posts since last visit
View your posts
View unanswered posts
The above links are located at the top right of the entire forum board, and will tell you what, if any new activity has taken place since your last visit.
What is that "Quote" button for on the top right of the other members previous Posts?
Sometimes, you want to capture what some previous poster had said, and to reference that script specifically, you click on the "Quote" button on the top of their reply post.
This brings you automatically into your own reply box now. The only thing is, is that the box has someone elses comments in there.
You can pull their entire post over and then before you do your own commentary regarding that previous post, you just delete out the stuff in that post that you do not need.
As an example, I quoted a section from another post in this thread, just to show you what it does and how it looks after it is done,

Hello & Welcome to Westridge Hills Forums!

Additional .....
You should read this post too, but I feel that the better information and helpful tips are above regarding "Helpful Tips". I will from this point on, keep adding additional suggestions for new users in this post.
You can not do anything functional in here if you do not register, such as read or create a new topic or post a reply to an existing topic. If you have any questions at all about how this works, please contact myself and ask, or just type in a question and send the topic or post. I will be checking on things on a regular basis.
I would like this to become a great meeting/gathering place and also a Great Resource, in addition to a time friendly method of keeping in touch with the entire neighborhood(s) at our own liesure.
The only thing that I request, especially in a chit-chat or general discussion area of this forum, is to be cognizant of everyone elses opinions and try to not say or write anything that may come off as rude or inappropriate.
Basically, be the nice people that you are and there will be no reason for me to edit out any offensive materials.
I also will be seeking suggestions on how to further make the content areas ones that we all have a reason to strive for visiting, so suggestions are always welcome.
Again,
Thank You for Registering, Showing Up and Getting Involved.
